Why Strength and Balance Matters

As we get older, it is natural to experience changes in muscle strength, balance and mobility. These changes can affect confidence, independence and increase the risk of falls.

UK research shows that regular strength and balance exercise can reduce falls risk by up to 54%, helping you stay active and independent.

Current UK guidelines recommend that older adults undertake activities to improve strength at least twice a week, alongside regular physical activity and balance-focused exercise.

The benefits include:

✔ Improved strength and mobility
✔ Better balance and coordination
✔ Reduced risk of falls and injury
✔ Increased confidence with everyday activities
✔ Improved bone health
✔ Greater independence and quality of life

It is never too late to benefit from exercise, and even small improvements in strength and balance can have a meaningful impact on long-term health and wellbeing.

We recommend bringing a water bottle to stay hydrated. There are bathrooms available for changing; however, arriving dressed in your workout clothes is ideal.

Why would I choose this class over other strengthening classes already on offer?

Our classes offer an enhanced level of guidance and clinical physiotherapy expertise. This means you benefit from highly trained professionals who understand movement, biomechanics, and injury prevention in greater depth.

We focus on helping you move well, not just move more, improving posture, control, strength, and body awareness while reducing the risk of injury and falls. Even if you’re pain-free, this level of precision allows you to get more from every session.

Ultimately, physio-led classes help you maximise your results, whether your goals are strength, fitness, performance, longevity, or simply feeling better in your body.
